Disney+ gives you the ability to change the appearance and style of your subtitles and closed captions for each of your devices. The way to do this varies from device to device. Look below to see how to customize on your device.
Any changes you make to your subtitles style applies to all profiles on a single device. These changes do not apply to all of your devices. You will need to follow the steps below to change the style on each of your devices.
iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch
For iOS version 13.0.0 and later
- Go to the Settings app on your device
- Select Accessibility
- Select Subtitles & Captioning
- Select Style
- On this screen, you can choose a pre-set style, or you can create a new one
- If you create a new style, turn off Video Override under Font, Size, Color, and Opacity
For earlier iOS versions
- Go to the Settings app on your device
- Select General
- Select Accessibility
- Select Subtitles & Captioning
- Select Style
- On this screen, you can choose a pre-set style, or you can create a new one
- If you create a new style, turn off Video Override under Font, Size, Color, and Opacity
Apple TV
- Go to the Settings app on your device
- Select General
- Select Accessibility
- Select Subtitles & Captioning
- Select Style
- On this screen, you can choose a pre-set style, or you can create a new one
- If you create a new style, turn off Video Override under Font, Size, Color, and Opacity
Android Phone or Tablet
For Google devices
- Go to the Settings app on your device
- Select Accessibility
- Select Caption preferences
- Toggle on Use captions
- On this screen, select either text size or caption style to customize the appearance for your device
For Samsung devices
- Go to the Settings app on your device
- Select Accessibility
- Select Hearing
- Select either Google subtitles (CC) or Samsung subtitles (CC)
- Toggle the setting to On
- On this screen, select either text size or caption style to customize the subtitle appearance for your device
Note: Depending on your device manufacturer, the location and availability of this setting may vary.
Microsoft Xbox
- Press the Xbox button on your controller
- Select Systems
- Select Settings
- Select Ease of Access
- Select Closed captioning
- On this screen, you can customize the subtitle and closed caption appearance for your device
Sony PlayStation
- Go to Settings on your device
- Select Accessibility
- Select Closed Captions
- Check the box next to Display Closed Captions
- Select Closed Captions Settings
- On this screen, you can customize the subtitle and closed caption appearance for your device
Smart TV
- While watching a video in Disney+, select the Audio & Subtitles button at the top right of the video player

- Select Subtitle Styling
- On this screen, you can customize the subtitle appearance for your device. Your changes will automatically be saved
Web Browser
- While watching a video in Disney+, select the Audio & Subtitles button at the top right of the video player

- Select the gear icon in the top right
- On this screen, you can customize the subtitle appearance for your device. Your changes will automatically be saved
Note: Some browsers do not support subtitle customization.
Amazon Fire Tablet
- Go to the Settings app on your device
- Go to Accessibility
- Go to Closed Captioning Preferences
- On this screen, you can customize the subtitle and closed caption appearance for your device
Amazon Fire TV
- Go to the Settings tab from the system home screen
- Go to Accessibility
- Go to Closed Captioning Preferences
- On this screen, you can customize the subtitle and closed caption appearance for your device
